In January 2005 the beautiful Blue Mountains village of Blackheath wil host Australia's
premier puppetry event, the Seventh "One Van" International Festival of Puppetry. It will present it's biggest yet program with thirty events over 5 days including shows and workshops for all ages, an exhibition,a philosophy forum, outdoor events and a 2 day Puppetry NSW conference.
There will be puppet making workshops for kids and for adults. Workshops in
manipulation, mask and shadow puppetry.
The performance program includes a superb line-up of Australian talent including the
Dreamer Trilogy by Richard Hart's Dream Puppets, Aphid's a Quarrelling Pair, Polyglot Puppets, master marionettist Murray Raine and productions from the Sydney Puppet Theatre and Krinkl Theatre. There will be two inventive shows from Ailie Cohen of Scotland and the Adult Puppet Caberet consisting of short works by puppeteers from Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth & Sydney.
The Festival organisers are pleased to include in the 2005 program a new show created
by a group of Blackheath residents with lifelong disabilities
Nature Band is a new festival project supported by Festivals Australia. Designed by
Jenny Kee, the community will makes and operate large parade puppets celebrating the native flora and fauna of this World Heritage National Park
The Puppetry NSW Conference for puppeteers will be held on Wednesday and
Thursday 19th & 20th while the Festival Events will be held on Fri 21st, Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd January.
