Jazz Mouse
Ailie Cohen
(Scotland)
The world's most boring music teacher, her niece, a cool, stowaway
jazzy mouse and a giant music stave with naughty notes all live in this wonderfully imaginative story by Scottish puppeteer, Ailie Cohen. Jazz Mouse (a snazzy French rodent) is discovered by the teacher's niece during another excruciating violin lesson. He teaches them both that music is about being curious and having fun. "If you really know what you are doing you can even make the wrong notes sound right." Ailie remembers having music lessons as a child. They were so boring that she gave up playing the violin for 10 years. She hopes Jazz Mouse "plants the seeds of curiosity that are necessary for the exploration of all that music has to offer".
