How to draw balanced poses in 4 minutes

04:39
I received some comments regarding the drawing of the human poses in fashion illustration. In fact, it is very simple. No matter what you draw, start with the axes. They will let you draw the desired position of the body and If you make a mistake, you will be easilyable to erase the axes. There is no need to get to the shapes and shading or costume, before establishing the position of the body. You can learn by heart some basic poses and after that, all you have to do is to observe the poses in the fashion magazines. They will inspire you to draw many other fashion sketches. For the beginners, I will propose today some simple, basic positions that anyone can follow. Basically, you can play with the axes of the legs and then arms. Draw the heads and then the axes of the shoulder. In my first drawing the shoulder axis goes down, this means the hip will go up. In the second draw the axes are parallel and in the third drawing the shoulder axis will go up, this means the hip axis will go down. In short, play with the position of the shoulder axes and suddenly you will obtain 3 fashion poses. The arms can be parallel with the body or bend.Regarding the legs, once you established which leg will support all the body weight, you can play with the other leg as you want, as you can see there are at least 3 variants. Let's go to the second figure. Here the weight of the body is split into two. Both legs are supporting the weight now. About the legs position, there is not much to say, so, for this pose, you can experiment with different arm positions as you can see in my drawing. After drawing the axes, sure, get to the second and thrid step: primary shapes and connetcions between the shapes. For more about these steps, just see my other videos. Regarding the last sketch, see how similar is this one, with the first sketch. In fact, it is exactly the same position, just that it is reflected. Now the weight is supported by the leg from the right, this means that the other leg can have any position. Also, the arms can be bend or parallel with the body. Like always, after drawing the axes, do the shapes and then the anatomy and that's it. With exercise, you will have more than 7 different positions and many other poses, if you take into consideration all the combinations between the arms and the legs. Happy new year and all the best in 2015.

TUTORIAL - Fashion Figures

HEY! finally i have uploaded this tutorial. I've been working on it for so long like no kidding.. i made three previous versions of this tutorial.. but i never finished those cause i keep changing my mind and thinking about the lighting and stuff like that.. so that you guys can see and all that!! it was frustrating, but i managed!! What materials do you use for your drawings? I use Copic Ciao markers and Touch Twin Markers, Quill Multiboard white paper, 2B and HB Pentel and Faber-Castell 0.5 mechanical pencils and Faber-Castell PVC-Free Space Eraser (Cool name) and I use Uni-ball Signo white fineliner 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? No. I am taking Studio Arts in senior high school right now. It's not from that class that I learned what I know. I am learning new things from the class, but so far, not to do with fashion illustration or manga drawings. I go to a regular high school, so it doesn't specialize in art. 3. How do you draw the models? Do you use any templates? I started out by tracing models from magazines which is harder than it sounds, but once you get the hang of it, its pretty easy. Then of course, I searched all types of videos on YouTube and some sites as well on Google, which unfortunately, I don't remember. 4. How old are you? I am 16 years old. 5. How long have you been drawing? I'm pretty sure I started drawing at 6. That's probably my oldest memory of me drawing. I got into manga drawings when I was 11 years old, I started teaching myself how to draw manga when I was 13 years old. I started developing an interest in fashion design also when I was 11, but I pursued that interest or taken it further at the age of 14. So, I would say I started drawing fashion illustration at the age of 14. 6. Where do you get your inspiration? I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something I like. I am currently in an Artist's Block which has been going on since late October 2011, and I am finding ways to get out of it. I'll keep you posted on how I break through it :] 7. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? Definitely! Fashion Illustration by Anna Kiper and Fashion Poses for Fashion Illustrators by Sha Tahmasebi are two books that I own at the moment. I'm hoping to get more. These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. http://www.monkeysee.com/play/5156-how-to-draw-clothes-on-a-fashion-figure this is a very basic tutorial but seriously, this tutorial helped me when I was just starting. How to Draw a Figure | Fashion Sketching

04:35
Watch more How to Draw Fashion Sketches videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501928-How-to-Draw-a-Figure-Fashion-Sketching Learn how to draw a figure for a fashion sketch from fashion designer Garo Sparo in this Howcast video. All right. So let's draw a figure. One thing I always start out with a pencil, because you can always erase it, and it's a good way to just get the basis going. So I always start with the head. Just think about proportion as you're doing it. The head, then the neck. We do a straight line under the neck. A good trick is to make an X here for the body. And it's great that we're doing this in pencil, as I said before, because all of this can go away later. From here, we work with a lot of elongated triangles. I'm going have this girl have her hand on her hip. So I'm doing these elongated triangles, even a little triangle for the hand, because you're going to smooth it out later. We'll give her a little arm, hanging down. It can even cross into the hand, as I just did. We'll give her some legs, and you basically segment the legs into triangles. This is how you establish the kneecaps, you do like little inverted triangle that way. And even a little inverted triangle for the foot, as well. All right. Now we go in and we smooth it all out. She kind of has a short neck, but I'm not that concerned, I can always erase that and fix it, so whatever. Basically drawing her outer silhouette now. I'll give her some bust, give her some hips. This is such a great trick because everybody knows how to draw a triangle, and then you're just smoothing over, smoothing over. She's turning out on the curvier side, but I can always fix that later as well. I'll give her her feet. Which I probably want her in high heels. All right. So, once you've gotten this process down, you've gotten it all smoothed out, you're happy with this, you're happy with that, and in fashion illustration you always elongate the form. And the reason why is you have more room to render the clothing. And that is why we make them so tall and lanky. It gives us more space to render details. Okay, now I go in with my pen. I like a nice roller pen, you can use felt tip, whatever you like. And I ink it all in. I hate drawing hands, but I will give a good attempt for you. I'll just give her like a weird mitten, but whatever, you can fix that later. That's why we have White-Out. It's never a bad idea just to put her hands behind her body, because it's all about the clothes, it's really not about her hands. And even if I'm doing these lines kind of feathery, you can always go over it again later with a thicker pen and really tighten it up. I'll give her some calves, a foot, and I'll have her have some high-heeled shoes on. She's pivoting her foot out. I'll lose this calf on this side and give her a calf on that side that tells me that her foot is being pivoted out. I'll give her a crotch. All right, so I've done the basic structure, so now I go in with my eraser and I get rid of all of the pencil. That arm is not pretty, but whatever, I can fix that later. So after a few little corrections, she'll be good to go, you can scan her into your computer. And that's how you draw a figure.

Tips to draw better a fashion sketch in 4 minutes

05:00
The tutorial for today: Tips to draw better a fashion sketch in 4 minutes. We start with the construction axes. Don't over draw them. Just a simple sketch will do.This simple axes will help you and they will be a small guidance for your future costume.Remember that if the shoulder axis goes up, the hip line will balance the figue and it will be sketched in the oposite direction.Use soft lines and the use strong strokes that will create your costume. This is an exercise about composition, accents, balancing the lines in a fashion costume, it is an exercise that will help you be more creative, very fast, As a tip: use a music playlist and depending on the music, you can accelerate your lines, after the beat. There is no use in drawing the details, all you have to do is to have an expressive line, very modulated. For the second fashion sketch start, as previously, with the axes. Then add lines, dots and surfaces to your costume, to make in even more creative and interesting to be watched. A drawing is perfect when you have multiple line sizes - and these you can obtain when you press softer or harder, when you can add pression to your pencils and control the lines. Another tip is to keep your eyes half closed to see where you need to put the accents in a fashion sketch. If the sketch has almost the same "color" let's say, it is time to have areas where the line is stronger or softer, where you have empty spaces or black surfaces. These areas are those where the eye of the viewer stops and reflects, where the eye takes a break. When drawing more figures on a single paper sheet, try to think of all of them as a unit, as a whole. Each fashion sketch can be treated as an individual composition, but also the full paper should be in harmony, having the perfect composition. See those black areas that I underline sometimeS? Those are the equilibrium of each composition and they help you create a rythm to your drawings. At then end, take a look at all my drawings on this page and try to understand which technique I applied and why. The first model is feminine and it has a curved soft line. The scond one has the accents put on the upper side, having big volumes in the shape of a pair of earrings and jewelry for the neck. The third one is more elastic, nervous and it has a bigger volume the the preivous sketches. Here the contrast between the soft lines and those with accents is bigger. The costume is composed by 3 areas that are round: the two volumes on the shoulders and the lower part- the skirt. The last one has a more masculine approach. The lines are bold, strong and they tend to have angles. They are more rigid and they look geometric somehow. The last figure is the accent of this composition. The line is crazy and unexpected, compared to the previous strokes. Try to do this exercise at home, by copying my sketches and then by inventing new ones. Good luck!

I will post my new videos each Thursday so don't forget to subscribe. I will do my best to answer to all your comments. So ask anything you want, and feel free to leave any suggestion for future videos! All are taken into consideration. For more info just visit my website fashion-teaching.com. Thank you and take care! ====================== FAQ: 1. What materials do you use for your drawings? ****************************************************** I use Toison d'Or or Koh-I-Noor pencils ( from 4B to 8B), Copic markers, Derwent coloured pencils, Canson paper or Fabriano paper, Factis eraser, metal pencil sharper and Winsor and Newton watercolors and ink. 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? ****************************************************** Yes, I studied design and fashion design ( for 4 years) at the University of Arts and Design in Cluj, Romania, Europe. I had a scholarship in Katowice, Poland and another one in Coburg, Germany and a course attended with Gary Tu - a well-known fashion illustrator from Taipei, Taiwan. 3.Where do you get your inspiration? ****************************************************** Basically I am very interested in any image and text that could grab my attention: fashion albums, history of art, books I read, movies I see...In fact, i will share below all my sources of inspiration. Find all my inspirational folders here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/39713... 4. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? ****************************************************** Definitely I would recommend Gottfried Bammes' Anatomy, Barcsay's Anatomy and David Downton's illustrations that you will find here: http://www.daviddownton.com/ and here: http://instagram.com/daviddownton 5. How long have you been drawing? ****************************************************** 30 years ago some desperate parents interdicted their 3 years old child to use pencils to draw on their house's inner walls :). Due to this, and to the fact that all pencils, brushes and markers were forbidden, the child found another way to express: all chocolate received was hidden and used to "decorate" the walls when all other tools were not available.30 years later, here I am, willing to tell a story on every wall there is. Not with chocolate, like I used to :), but in watercolors, as you can find on my shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/bijuterra. Thank you, and hope to enjoy my illustrations and videos from your comfortable armchair, having a cup of warm milk in your hand and smiling. 6. How can I send my drawing to you? ****************************************************** For any personal advice you can send me your illustrations or questions here: [email protected] and I will reply. Thank you! 7. FIND ME HERE: ****************************************************** My site: http://fashion-teaching.com/ My Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qhid8T... I am now 17 years old 5. How long have you been drawing? I'm pretty sure I started drawing at 6. That's probably my oldest memory of me drawing. I got into manga drawings when I was 11 years old, I started teaching myself how to draw manga when I was 13 years old. Drawing: Develop a Front Female Fashion Pose

02:58
*This type of pose development is for fashion design. Copying poses from photos--fashion magazines, etc.--is typical in that industry. However, I think its a good technique for general practice as well.* This is from a DVD that accompanies the book Fashion Illustration for Designers by Kathryn Hagen. Ms. Hagen is a fashion illustration instructor at Otis College. Ms. Hagen is very adept at creating lovely, stylized figures, heads and croquis for fashion design. Her tools include: Copic markers, Prismacolor pencils and markers, Tombo brush pens, gouache, liner pens and Milky Gel pens. Even if you don't study fashion illustraion per se, this book is an excellent resource for improving your skills with drawing and rendering the clothed figure. You can find it here http://www.amazon.com/Fashion-Illustration-Designers-Kathryn-Hagen/dp/0130983837/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt/102-0069748-1987343

You will learn more about fashion and everything related to it: composition, shading, textures, different techniques and especially learn how to draw fashion sketches all by yourself. I will post new videos each Thursday so don't forget to subscribe. I will do my best to answer all comments. Ask anything you want, and feel free to leave any suggestions for future videos! All are taken into consideration. For more info visit my website fashion-teaching.com. Thank you and take care! FAQ: 1. Find all my inspirational folders here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/397137153755499/photos/ 4. Thank you! 7. I am now 17 years old 5. How long have you been drawing? I'm pretty sure I started drawing at 6. That's probably my oldest memory of me drawing. I got into manga drawings when I was 11 years old, I started teaching myself how to draw manga when I was 13 years old.
