SELinux If the OS is to be used for an Oracle installation, It is easier if Secure Linux (SELinux) is disabled or switched to permissive. To do this edit the "/etc/selinux/config" file, making sure the SELINUX flag is set as follows. SELINUX=permissive If SELinux is configured after installation Firewall If the OS is to be used for an Oracle installation. # systemctl stop firewalld # systemctl disable firewalld You can install and configure it later if you wish. SSH Make sure the SSH daemon is started using the following commands. # systemctl start sshd.service # systemctl enable sshd.service For more information see:

Oracle 12.1.0.2 works with firewall on Oracle Linux 7

08:33
Most Oracle 12c setting up disabled firewall. But we really need firewall to run most of times. This video shows that there is no problem for Oracle 12.1.0.2 to run with firewalld turned on. You can pause the video to see which ports and services are turned on in order to make the Oracle 12c works with firewall on. I did not turn on SELinux though. If you test it out for SELinux, please let me know.

Installing Oracle Linux 7.4

12:01
Installing Oracle Linux 7.4 Scott Lynn has announced the release of Oracle Linux 7 Update 4, an updated build of the company's enterprise-class Linux distribution built from the source code for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 but featuring its own "unbreakable" kernel. This version was announced last month, but it was only yesterday that the installation DVD images appeared on public mirrors. From the release announcement: "Oracle is pleased to announce the general availability of Oracle Linux 7 Update 4 for x86-64 servers. What's new? Enhancements to Oracle Linux 7 included in this update are included for several key areas, including security, support for Cloud and Container environments, and performance. Oracle Linux 7 Update 4 continues to enhance your security stance with several new capabilities. UEFI Secure Boot - a system in Secure Boot mode loads only those boot loaders and kernels that have been signed by Oracle. Oracle has updated the kernel and GRUB 2 packages to sign them with a valid Extended Validation (EV) certificate. The EV certificate has been compiled into the shim binary and has been signed by Microsoft. OpenSSH now uses SHA-2 - by default, the algorithm for public key signatures that is used in this release is SHA-2. Reference: https://distrowatch.com/?newsid=09955

Installation of Oracle 12c in any Linux RHEL 7 x and Centos 7 x Step by Step complete

30:52
Friends, Oracle 12c database has been launched by Oracle in last month. At present, it is available for only 64 bit operating systems of Windows, Solaris, and Linux. It will be available for more operating systems very soon. Download here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/database12c-linux-download-2240591.html This time after a long time, Oracle launched a new version. This is the main benefit of Oracle certification. We get around 3-5 years gap between 2 certification paths. I cleared Oracle 10g upgrade examination before 8 years back. When I checked certification date that time I realized this long period and immediately I cleared Oracle 11g certification exam too. I am so excited to learn new things and features of Oracle 12c. I already installed Oracle 12c on my pc and now am starting to get practical hands on. I am waiting for official Oracle 12c database new feature book and certification track examination. I am guessing examination number and name of Oracle 12c upgrade for DBA would be Oracle Database 12c: New Features for Administrators and exam number would be 1Z0-060. It is on way and will be released very soon by Oracle University.

How to SSH into Guest VM from Host using VirtualBox NAT Network with only single Insterface and VM can access the Internet and Host can SSH into VM at same time. This configurations working with basic port forwarding from Host to Guest OS. Software and Tools. - Xubuntu 14.04 64Bit - Oracle VM Virtualbox 5.0.10 - Ubuntu Server 14.04 64bit as Guest VM - Kazam Guest VM setup - Ubutnu server 14.04 Bit64 - SSH server running/listen - Networking attach to NAT - eth0 ip address assign automatically by default. Make sure SSH server running/listen on Guest VM. guest$ netstat -ln | grep 22 3. Open new terminal window on Host. and access Guest from port "2281". host$ ssh [email protected] -p 2281 Important Setup This configurations will work well if we assign unused port from Host.
