Installation of Oracle 12c in any Linux RHEL 7 x and Centos 7 x Step by Step complete

30:52
Friends, Oracle 12c database has been launched by Oracle in last month. At present, it is available for only 64 bit operating systems of Windows, Solaris, and Linux. It will be available for more operating systems very soon. Download here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/database12c-linux-download-2240591.html This time after a long time, Oracle launched a new version. This is the main benefit of Oracle certification. We get around 3-5 years gap between 2 certification paths. I cleared Oracle 10g upgrade examination before 8 years back. When I checked certification date that time I realized this long period and immediately I cleared Oracle 11g certification exam too. I am so excited to learn new things and features of Oracle 12c. I already installed Oracle 12c on my pc and now am starting to get practical hands on. I am waiting for official Oracle 12c database new feature book and certification track examination. I am guessing examination number and name of Oracle 12c upgrade for DBA would be Oracle Database 12c: New Features for Administrators and exam number would be 1Z0-060. It is on way and will be released very soon by Oracle University.

It was created by innotek GmbH, purchased in 2008 by Sun Microsystems, and now developed by Oracle. It is installed on an existing host operating system as an application; this host application allows additional guest operating systems, each known as a Guest OS, to be loaded and run, each with its own virtual environment. Supported host operating systems include Linux, Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Solaris, and OpenSolaris; there is also a port to FreeBSD. Supported guest operating systems include versions and derivations of Windows, Linux, BSD, OS/2, Solaris and others. Since release 3.2.0, VirtualBox also allows limited virtualization of Mac OS X guests on Apple hardware, though OSX86 can also be installed using VirtualBox. SELinux If the OS is to be used for an Oracle installation, It is easier if Secure Linux (SELinux) is disabled or switched to permissive. To do this edit the "/etc/selinux/config" file, making sure the SELINUX flag is set as follows. SELINUX=permissive If SELinux is configured after installation Firewall If the OS is to be used for an Oracle installation. # systemctl stop firewalld # systemctl disable firewalld You can install and configure it later if you wish. SSH Make sure the SSH daemon is started using the following commands. # systemctl start sshd.service # systemctl enable sshd.service For more information see:

1. Oracle database Installation With ASM: Installation of Linux & network configuration

22:18
Automatic Storage Management (ASM) is a feature that has be introduced in Oracle 10g to simplify the storage of Oracle datafiles, controlfiles, logfiles and backups. ASM will be used as the file system and volume manager for Oracle Database files (data, online redo logs, control files, archived redo logs), and the Fast Recovery Area. NOTE: ASMLib in the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. ASMLib – Linux specific ASM library and its associated driver. The Oracle ASMLib kernel driver is now included in the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. No driver package needs to be installed when using this kernel. The oracleasm-support and oracleasmlib packages still need to be installed. The oracleasm-support can be installed from Oracle Linux ISO image. For other Linux flavors could be found here – (Download section for particular Linux distribution) The oracleasmlib can be downloaded from ULN (Unbreakable Linux Network), subscription is required. Non-subscribers are free to use the similar package built for RHEL on their Enterprise Linux machines, which we will use in this tutorial. Action plan: 1. Installing Oracle Enterprise Linux and creating virtual hard disks in VMware for ASM disks 2. Creating recommended OS groups and user for Grid Infrastructure 3. Creating login scripts for grid and oracle users 4. Installing Oracle ASM packages 5. Creating ASM disk volumes 6. Downloading and installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure software 7. Creating ASM disk groups 8. Installing Oracle database software and create database instance
