Maintenance: How to Minimize Unscheduled Repairs

06:51
One of the primary goals of a successful maintenance organization is to schedule as many of its maintenance and repair activities as possible. When equipment downtime is unscheduled, costs go up, productivity and efficiency go down, and component life suffers. By using the health data that comes from machines, mines can adopt a more proactive approach to maintenance and repair. But sorting through all of that data can be a challenge in and of itself. Fortunately, Cat dealers have access to a web-based tool that combines sophisticated analytics with Caterpillar and Cat dealer expertise to use that data to make informed decisions about maintenance and repair. This video illustrates this tool and shows a side-by-side comparison of how it worked for Cat 795 trucks on a mine site in Chile.

Bermuda Grass Minimum Maintenance & Expense for Beautiful Lawn

09:47
Bermuda grass is very popular in mid and south of United States because of its robust nature. It can survive months without water in drought scenario. And in most cases it can outcompete weeds. It's ideally cut to lower height, for example in golf courses around 1 inch. And in households based on variety ideal size is between 1.5-2.5 inches. If you want to maintain it low, then you need to frequently mow it. It remains dormant during cold period (4-5 months depending on your weather). During this period the lawn looks yellowish and very dull. But you don't have to do regular maintenance like mowing etc. Never cut Bermuda more than 1/3rd of its height, to avoid stress. If the grass is over grown then you can achieve intended size by cutting 1/3rd or less every 3/4 days to reach to the intended size. Water infrequently, once it every week. Take into account the rainfall and adjust accordingly. Water for 30-45 mins so that it gets 1-2 inch of water. You may place a water measuring cup in different part of the lawn to check watering time. Do not water during the warm part of the day, and also after sun set. Early morning watering is best, preferably with sprinkler setup with timer. Here is the summary of activities: Summary - You need 5 days’ work: • Feb End: Apply Pre-Emergent - 1 day • Mid-April: First Mow (Scalp & Bag) - 1 day • Mid May: First Fertilizer Apply - 1 day • Mid May: Apply 2nd Pre-Emergent - 1 day • Mid July: Second Fertilizer Apply - 1 day Useful information: • Mow Every 7-14 days during growing session • Cut no more than 1/3rd of height • Water when necessary • Core Aeration: Every 2 year during mid-summer • Reseed as and when necessary • Apply Compost as and when necessary Best Practices: • Water deep (1-2 in) & infrequently (7 day gap) • Apply everything (fertilizer, water) less in Shade area • Keep the Grass Height High in shades: Mow High Have patience. Don't try to fix everything very quickly. If you start following these basic maintenance, over period of many months your lawn will become gradually better and better. And you will achieve your intended goal. 5 Ways Quality Control Inspectors Use QC Checklists

03:12
Wondering how you can clearly specify product requirements in a QC checklist? Click the link below to download a free copy of the comprehensive eBook "5 Essentials Of A QC Checklist" and start making strides toward better product quality. Download the free eBook: http://hubs.ly/H07L3880 Follow along with the content by taking a look at its transcript below: The most important document QC staff use to inspect a product is the quality control, or QC, checklist. QC checklists serve as a guide for your inspector during inspection, providing details related to product requirements, on-site testing, packaging and more. As an importer, if you omit any important details from the checklist, the results could be inaccurate and you may need to re-inspect. Let’s look at the five main ways that inspectors use QC checklists in the field. 1. Pulling a random sample QC checklists often specify how many units inspectors should randomly pull in a sample for inspection. Using the correct sample size ensures the results fairly represent the quality and status of the total shipment. If inspectors pull too many units, this increases the time needed for inspection and will raise your costs if your inspectors bill you based on time. If inspectors pull too few units, this limits the scope of inspection and increases the likelihood that defects and other issues may be overlooked. 2. Checking the product against specifications Inspectors typically use your checklist to verify a number of specific characteristics related to the product. Some examples are product weight & dimensions, material & construction, item color, item marking & labeling and general appearance. Any product requirements you’ve omitted from your checklist likely won’t be checked during inspection. 3. Verifying packaging requirements Inspectors often use the QC checklist as a guide for checking product packaging. Characteristics such as the appropriate type of cardboard, packing & assortment method and packaging labeling are all important checks during most inspections. It may seem excessive to include these details in a checklist. But incorrect packaging can lead to your product being damaged during transit or refused at customs. 4. Classifying and reporting quality defects QC professionals typically classify defects as “critical”, “major” or “minor” in order of severity. For example, you might consider untrimmed threads in a garment to be a minor defect, while a needle left in a garment would be critical. Inspectors often refer to the QC checklist for guidance on how to classify and report any defects found during inspection. Your tolerance for more serious defects will probably be lower than that for less serious defects. So you may receive inaccurate results if your inspectors incorrectly group the defects they find. 5. Performing on-site product tests Many products require on-site testing during inspection to determine whether they meet safety, performance and function requirements. Inspectors follow the QC checklist to determine which tests to conduct, the procedures & equipment needed and your pass or fail tolerances for each test. And inspectors following an incomplete checklist are likely to perform testing incorrectly or misinterpret the result. In closing, inspectors largely rely on a checklist for the relevant instructions for checking your product. And if effective, a QC checklist can help lower your costs by preventing unnecessary repeat inspections and catching any quality defects before your shipment leaves the factory. Be sure to download our free eBook, 5 Essentials of a QC Checklist, by clicking the link in the description. Thanks for watching.

Activity Based Costing Example in 6 Easy Steps - Managerial Accounting with ABC Costing

08:02
Clicked here http://www.MBAbullshit.com/ and OMG wow!I'm SHOCKED how easy.. Imagine your brand makes two types of mobile phone devices. They are each produced working with one machine. The maintenance cost of the apparatus is $100 a month. What percentage should each style of telephone share under the maintenance cost? In order to be "just", some will suggest that the cost must be divided 50%-50%. However, what if Phone A consumes 90 hours of the machinery, and Phone B uses only 10 hours of the apparatus? Should the cost remain to be split 50%-50%? As part of classic "allocated" costing, the cost should probably still be split 50%-50%. However applying the principle of Activity Based Costing, it needs to most likely be cut up 90%-10% for the reason that one phone type is based on 90 hours of the apparatus monthly while the other cell phone form typically only consumes 10 hours of the identical device. The foregoing technique makes use of "amount of activity" for being a function of costing, and not just "allocation" where accountants simplistically allot the costs by the same token.Needless to say, for any product or service, there are a lot more activities to consider, and not only the employment of a particular device. These varying activities which generally encounter a mark on cost are classified as "cost drivers". Cost drivers may appear in numerous varieties for instance machine hours consumed, number of inspections, hours spent on inspections, number of production runs, quantity of hours used up throughout production, quantity of setups, together with multiple others. In the case above, we simply used machine hours consumed. Inside a less forgiving example, we may additionally need to consider the number of inspections. Suppose Phone A solicited added inspections by enterprise engineers than Phone B? It goes without saying, a great deal more of the compensation of institution engineers really needs to be allocated to Phone A. Whereas, what if Phone B solicited a great deal more production runs than Phone A? Again, we would struggle to conveniently partition broad production costs among the two mobile phone types. To further complicate the problem, what if Phone A, irrespective of using far less production runs, solicited more production setups than Phone B? Evidently, the difficulty of appropriately allocating costs to each of the phone models can get incredibly exhausting. Having said that, this difficulty can be really worth the effort if it helps a business apply extra meticulous or more defined costs on items, which can be made use to help the company in its pricing methods. The beauty of Activity Based Costing is that it considers all these diverse costs and cost drivers in a timely fashion, granting an organization the competence to perform pretty defined costing inspite of such concerns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcjxRe4EsuY activity based costing, abc costing, what is activity based costing, what is abc http://mbabullshit.com/blog/activity-based-costing/

Excel spreadsheet for tracking tasks (shared workbook)

10:41
This video provides instructions on use of a spreadsheet, available for download at http://www.legaltree.ca/node/1932. The spreadsheet is designed to allow delegation of task, for example by lawyers to a legal assistant. It allows creation of tasks which are put on a task list and reordering of tasks according to priority. Assistants then move the tasks to a "completed tasks" section of the spreadsheet as the tasks are completed. The spreadsheet should be saved as a shared workbook so it can be simultaneously accessed by many users on a network e.g. lawyers adding tasks and assistants completing them. See http://www.legaltree.ca/node/1932 for more info. Peter's Fish Tank - Episode 2 - Tank Maintenance

07:08
The Maintenance Episode is meant to be a quick overview of some of the activities that take place two days a week done by the Brothers Grimm. Mr. Wilson comes by two other days a week for a range of other activities related to maintenance. Its 6 minutes long (not too tiring and there is some fun fish feeding shots at the end). Some of the fish feeding shots were taken underwater with the GoPro. The fish food generally never lasts more than a minute at most and is all consumed by the critters in the tank. We filmed the fish feeding frenzy with three cameras and edited it all in one sequence so you are watching the same fish eating the same food from three different angles......

Flow Hive Update Honey Bee workers get through the back (later sealed up on their own)

06:19
Avoid Fakes, get a real flowhive at a discount: http://mbsy.co/honeyflow/29307941 BeeKeeping, Honey Bee Flow Hive Update. The Flow Frames have been in my apiary now for over a month. You will first notice that you can actually hear the workers chewing their way into the upper access area. When I remove the upper bar (access for the actuation key) the workers move right in as you will see. Also, there is a gap at the bottom of the flow frames, so when the access cover is removed some bees come right out to greet me. The workers are licking the flow frame cells, that's a good sign as it's part of a cleaning behavior prior to putting honey in the cells for storage. I expect to see and share with you, the cell filling activities in coming weeks. We have had a colder than normal spring, so there hasn't been a lot of surplus nectar coming in with the field bees. Pollen is arriving in abundance. My bottom two boxes are brood boxes. Bee populations are strong and I expect so see some swarm behavior and new queen cells in coming days/weeks. As many of you have been waiting for an update, this should satisfy your curiosity. Thank you for viewing... there will be more videos as the Flow Frames are filled or not... whatever happens, I will share it with you all. Thank you for your patience. I am not in any way affiliated with the good people at Flow and do not sell hives or represent them in the U.S. these are my personal observations, I bought them just like anyone else :) For those of you wishing to purchase your own flow components or a complete hive system, here is their current Link: http://www.honeyflow.com/shop/p/94 We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking Amazon.com and affiliated sites. Learn Oil and Gas with Animations

03:33
- Like our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oilvips - Oil and gas are generated from a source rock, organic matter buried in the depths of the earth. Once formed, they climb back towards the surface. On their way, cap rocks can impede their progress and they accumulate in reservoir rocks. Here they constitute hydrocarbon fields, which can be identified by interpreting seismic data (a sort of echography). The data is obtained with the help of a seismic ship. To confirm the interpretations of seismic data, two types of drilling gear exist. Each is adapted to a range of depth of water (down to more than 2500 meters). The platform seen here is a semi-submersible, which floats and retains its stabilised position by means of anchors fixed on the seabed. Platforms at sea are used not only for drilling but also for the production of hydrocarbons. This production consists of the separation of oil, gas and water, before the oil and gas is taken by pipeline towards a mainland terminal. Where it is impossible or too expensive to link the field to the coast by a pipeline, an FPSO ship is used (Floating Production Storage and Offloading barge). Onboard, the hydrocarbons and the water are separated. The oil is stored prior to being loaded on tankers and the gas is re-injected into the reservoir rocks. Gas from a field is taken to land through an underground gasoduct to a processing plant. There, if the gas is to be transported by sea, it is converted into liquid obtained by cooling it down to --163°C. When it arrives at the plant terminal, the liquid natural gas (LNG) is returned to its gaseous state in a re-gasification plant, before being introduced into the local gasoduct network. The LNG is stored in tanks before re-gasification. The crude oil is transported in a petroleum tanker, the capacity of which can attain 200 000 tons. It is commonly called a "super- tanker". The terminals capable of receiving such giants are few and far between. The ships used to transport the crude oil produced on an FPSO ship are of a much smaller capacity. The crude oil, before being refined, is stored in the port in the large capacity tanks. The natural gas is preserved in reservoirs (artificial or natural). It is ready to be injected by pumping into the gasoduct network for industrial and domestic use or as fuel in power-generating stations. As far as the crude oil goes, it is transported by oleoduct to the refinery. There it undergoes a number of transformations and blending. A variety of finished products are obtained (LPG, petrol, kerosene, diesel ...), or naphtha, which will be used as the basis for the composition of plastic products by complex petroleum chemistry. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oilvips Twitter: https://twitter.com/oilvips And Don't forget to subscribe to our channel

Fundamentals of Upstream Oil and Gas

09:23
Oil 101 - A FREE Introduction to the Oil and Gas Industry I this first of 10 modules, we introduce the learner to some key fundamentals of the Upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. The full Oil 101 course includes: +Introduction to Upstream +Introduction to Midstream +Introduction to Downstream +Introduction to Exploration +Introduction to Drilling +Introduction to Production +Introduction to Natural Gas +Introduction to Refining +Introduction to Supply and Trading +Introduction to Petroleum Product Marketing Learn More about Oil 101: http://www.ektinteractive.com/ http://www.ektinteractive.com/oil-101/ So, What is Upstream? Most oil and gas companies’ business structures are organized according to business segment, assets, or function. The upstream segment of oil and gas is also known as exploration and production, or E&P because it encompasses activities related to searching for, recovering, and producing crude oil and natural gas. Upstream is all about wells, where to locate them; how deep and how far to drill them; and how to design, construct, operate and manage them to deliver the greatest possible return on investment with the lightest, safest and smallest operational footprint. In fact, the E&P sector should probably be called the EDP sector - because “you can’t find oil if you don’t drill wells.” Exploration Obtaining the Lease Let’s start with exploration which involves the operator obtaining a lease and permission to drill from the owner of onshore or offshore acreage thought to contain oil or gas. Then the operator must conduct geological and geophysical surveys to select the first well site to explore for, and hopefully find, economic accumulations of oil or gas. This well is often called a “wildcat well.” Drilling is physically creating the “borehole” in the ground that will eventually become a productive oil or gas well. This work is typically done by rig contractors and service companies in the Oilfield Services business sector. On a wellsite, there can be as many as 30-40 different service contractors providing expertise to the operator. Wells can be relatively simple or unbelievably complex. Wells can totally vertical for miles or both deep and horizontal. There are also highly complex “J” and “S” configured wells with numerous branches, or laterals, emanating from the original, or “mother”, hole. These are called “deviated wells.” Production Finally, let’s discuss production, where reserves are “converted to cash” by maximizing the recovery of hydrocarbons from subsurface reservoirs. Essentially, production is efficiently bringing the hydrocarbons to the surface and treating them as needed to make them marketable. So that’s the basics of E&P. We will drill deeper into each of these operations in the complete Oil 101 course at a later date. Now, let’s talk about unconventional resources, clearly the hottest topic in oil and gas over the last decade. Unconventional Future of Oil and Gas Unconventional resources are defined as any resource extracted, or produced, by any method other than the traditional vertical or slightly deviated well. The three main sources of technological breakthroughs that have made unconventional developments profitable include: Horizontal drilling Hydraulic fracturing Subsea engineering (especially deep water production)

Job Order Costing Explained | Managerial Accounting | CMA Exam | Ch 3 P 1

12:22
Under absorption costing, product costs include all manufacturing costs. Some manufacturing costs, such as direct materials, can be directly traced to particular products. For example, the cost of the airbags installed in a Toyota Camry can be easily traced to that particular auto. But what about manufacturing costs like factory rent? Such costs do not change from month to month, whereas the number and variety of products made in the factory may vary dramatically from one month to the next. Because these costs remain unchanged from month to month regardless of what products are made, they are clearly not caused by—and cannot be directly traced to—any particular product. Therefore, these types of costs are assigned to products and services by averaging across time and across products. The type of production process influences how this averaging is done. Job-order costing is used in situations where many different products, each with individual and unique features, are produced each period. For example, a Levi Strauss clothing factory would typically make many different types of jeans for both men and women during a month. This is a custom product that is being made for the first time, but if this were one of the company’s standard products, it would have an established bill of materials. A bill of materials is a document that lists the type and quantity of each type of direct material needed to complete a unit of product. The materials requisition form is a document that specifies the type and quantity of materials to be drawn from the storeroom and identifies the job that will be charged for the cost of the materials. The form is used to control the flow of materials into production and also for making entries in the accounting records. A job cost sheet records the materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead costs charged to that job. Measuring Direct Labor Cost Direct labor consists of labor charges that can be easily traced to a particular job. Labor charges that cannot be easily traced directly to any job are treated as part of manufacturing overhead. As discussed in a previous chapter, this latter category of labor costs is called indirect labor and includes tasks such as maintenance, supervision, and cleanup. Today many companies rely on computerized systems (rather than paper and pencil) to maintain employee time tickets. A completed time ticket is an hour-by-hour summary of the employee’s activities throughout the day. One computerized approach to creating time tickets uses bar codes to capture data. Computing Predetermined Overhead Rates. There are three reasons for this: Manufacturing overhead is an indirect cost. This means that it is either impossible or difficult to trace these costs to a particular product or job. Manufacturing overhead consists of many different types of cost ranging from the grease used in machines to the annual salary of the production manager. Some of these costs are variable overhead costs because they vary in direct proportion to changes in the level of production (e.g., indirect materials, supplies, and power) and some are fixed overhead costs because they remain constant as the level of production fluctuates (e.g., heat and light, property taxes, and insurance).Page 123 Because of the fixed costs in manufacturing overhead, total manufacturing overhead costs tend to remain relatively constant from one period to the next even though the number of units produced can fluctuate widely. Consequently, the average cost per unit will vary from one period to the next. An allocation base is a measure such as direct labor-hours (DLH) or machine-hours (MH) that is used to assign overhead costs to products and services. The most widely used allocation bases in manufacturing are direct labor-hours, direct labor cost, machine-hours and (where a company has only a single product) units of product.
