Bob Woods on Telarc's Legendary Catalog

00:59
Craft Recordings has honored the legacy of Telarc Records by re-releasing four of its most famous titles in their long and storied catalog on vinyl LP for the first time in over thirty-five years. The LPs being reissued come from Telarc’s initial Soundstream recordings, which were digitalized recordings made on an Analogic MP8016 16-bit Analog to Digital convertor with a three-bit sync pattern and an even parity bit added to form a 20-bit word. These digital recordings were so good that even converted to analog LP, they set the gold standard for how digital recordings were made to transfer to vinyl that stood well into the future. The four LPs include Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus performing Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite & Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances; Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana & Paul Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis; Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, Capriccio Italien and Cossack Dance from Mazeppa; and Seiji Ozawa and the Boston Symphony Orchestra with Joseph Silverstein (violin) performing Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. These four vinyl LP’s will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl. These titles were specifically selected from Telarc’s vast classical catalog because they were the label’s all-time best-selling albums and are exceptionally rare in the LP marketplace today. All four of these LPs have been pressed by Optimal in Germany. All titles are available for pre-order at the newly launched Craft Recordings web store: https://found.ee/Classical-all-c Use the special offer code “TELARC15” for a 15% discount off two or more of these titles.

One of These Days - Pink Floyd (1971) HD 96kHz/24-bit FLAC

05:59
"One of These Days" was the opening track on Pink Floyd's sixth studio album, Meddle, which was released in October 1971 by Harvest Records. So...both of my last two uploads (King Crimson's "Epitaph" and Pixies' "Ana") were blocked from the eyes of the world (i'll never comprehend why artists wouldn't prefer their songs to be available in numerous videos that they could remain visible, find new fans, and make money generated by the ads they control over their work...as opposed to sliding into the fog of obscurity and not taking advantage of the additional $$$ potential from ads)....whatevs, here is a little something for Pink Floyd's powerful and creepy "One of These Days" set to Jan Švankmajer’s 1971 film, Jabberwocky (a pretty grim source which I stretched and tried to clean up a bit). If you're inclined to do so, I hope you get a chance to see it before the powers that be decide maybe you shouldn't. ;-) Thanks for watching! From Wiki: Meddle was produced between the band's touring commitments, from January to August 1971. The album was recorded at a series of locations around London, including Abbey Road Studios and Morgan Studios. The album's title Meddle is a play on words: a medal, and to interfere. Storm Thorgerson of the art-design group Hipgnosis originally suggested a close-up shot of a baboon's anus for the album cover photograph. He was overruled by the band, who informed him via an intercontinental telephone call while on tour in Japan that they would rather have "an ear underwater". The cover image was photographed by Bob Dowling. The image represents an ear, underwater, collecting waves of sound (represented by ripples in the water). Thorgerson later expressed dissatisfaction with the cover, claiming it to be his least favourite Pink Floyd album sleeve: "I think Meddle is a much better album than its cover". Thorgerson's colleague Aubrey Powell shared his sentiments, saying: "Meddle was a mess. I hated that cover. I don't think we did them justice with that at all; it's half-hearted." The gatefold contains a group photograph of the band (Floyd's last until 1987's A Momentary Lapse of Reason). With no material to work with and no clear idea of the album's direction, the group devised a series of novel experiments which eventually inspired the album's signature track, "Echoes". Although the band's later albums would be unified by a central theme with lyrics written entirely by Roger Waters, Meddle was a group effort with lyrical contributions from each member, and is considered a transitional album between the Syd Barrett-influenced group of the late 1960s and the emerging Pink Floyd. The album was well-received by music critics upon its release, and was commercially successful in the United Kingdom, but lackluster publicity on the part of their United States-based label led to poor sales there upon initial release. On release, Meddle received generally positive reviews from music critics. Rolling Stone's Jean-Charles Costa wrote: "Meddle not only confirms lead guitarist David Gilmour's emergence as a real shaping force with the group, it states forcefully and accurately that the group is well into the growth track again", and the NME called it "an exceptionally good album". In Christgau's Record Guide: Rock Albums of the Seventies (1981), Robert Christgau said Meddle was a fairly good progression over the group's previous work and featured folk songs highlighted by unique melodies, although he lamented the lyrics to "A Pillow of Winds": "The word 'behold' should never cross their filters again". In his critique of "Echoes", he believed the lyrics imitate "Across the Universe" by the Beatles but over 23 minutes of music that flows with a "timeless calm" similar to "Interstellar Overdrive". Daryl Easlea of BBC felt it is a similar, but more consistent and tuneful version of Atom Heart Mother highlighted by "Echoes", which he said "dominates the entire work" and is "everything right about progressive rock; engaging, intelligent and compelling". In The New Rolling Stone Album Guide (2004), Rob Sheffield said "Echoes" showed Pink Floyd to be a more developed group than before, "coloring the slow guitar ripples with deep-in-the-studio sonic details that only the truly baked would notice, much less appreciate." Writing for AllMusic, editor Stephen Thomas Erlewine called Meddle the best album from their transitional years leading up to The Dark Side of the Moon, as it "spends most of its time with sonic textures and elongated compositions, most notably on its epic closer, 'Echoes'". He noted a "uniform tone", but not song structure, and wrote of the album's significance in the group's catalogue: "Pink Floyd were nothing if not masters of texture, and Meddle is one of their greatest excursions into little details, pointing the way to the measured brilliance of Dark Side of the Moon and the entire Roger Waters era."

Edgar Froese - Macula Transfer (Original CD)

35:51
0:00:00 - OS 452 [7.52] 0:07:52 - AF 765 [11.03] 0:18:54 - PA 701 [7.32] 0:26:27 - Quantas 611 [4.58] 0:31:24 - IF 810 [4.25] Edgar Froese's third solo album, Macula Transfer (the title referring to the sun spots), was recorded just before Tangerine Dream's Stratosfear in summer 1976 by Edgar Froese just on his own using an old 4-track Ampex tape machine that Tangerine Dream had bought from Abbey Road Studios. According to Edgar Froese, there were some differences at the time in TD dynamics and Edgar Froese recorded Macula Transfer just for fun. Macula Transfer was released 1976 in Germany only, and furthermore fans had to wait nearly 22 years for the first official CD release of this rare album in 1998. After all other solo albums by Edgar Froese had been re-released by Virgin on CD, the only missing one, Macula Transfer, had now become available by Manikin Records. This Berlin-based label has become well-known due to some releases of material by Klaus Schulze and Ashra. Even if this CD release cannot be considered a bootleg, Edgar Froese took steps to stop distribution of it, as the rights had been sold to Manikin Records without informing him. Edgar Froese's position was that he should have been offered the rights first. They had been kept by a company in Hamburg, which had taken over the back-catalogue of Metronome/Brain. Manikin bought the rights from that company directly, while Edgar Froese already had plans to release Macula Transfer in a new version on his own. Thus, after the first bulk of 1,000 copies was sold, Manikin did not re-release the CD to avoid legal action. So the CD version of Macula Transfer became as rare as the original vinyl release.

(Airsoft) Angry Gun Power Up Silencer (MP9 KWA) - KhanSeb

01:11
My facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/pages/French-Airsoft-Dude/207828539287306 (Airsoft) Angry Gun Power Up Silencer (MP9 KWA) - KhanSeb I bought the silencer on eHobbyAsia, for 78 USD : http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/catalog/product/view/id/25398/s/angry-gun-power-up-silencer-for-ksc-mp9-tp9-smg-black/ Lot of people are always asking "what's the point of a silencer on an airsoft gun ???". Well, this product is one of the answer. This silencer hides an inner barrel, which increase the muzzle velocity (and according to angry gun, the accuracy) of the replica. It also comes with a little rail, allowing you to put a little accessory on it. Indeed, it does increase the muzzle veloticy. My naked MP9 KWA is about 350 fps with Abbey Ultra Predator Gas and 0.20 gr bb's. With the silencer on, it's about 400. But the accuracy ? It's hard to tell, I don't see much difference. Actually, I would only say that the accuracy is decreased, because it makes the shots more inconsistent.

Oral History of Frank Bonsal

01:26:31
Interviewed by Marguerite Gong Hancock on 2017-09-26 in Reisterstown, MD X8332.2018 © Computer History Museum Frank Bonsal was born, raised and lived his life in the Reisterstown, MD area. His father was a horse trader, so they lived on a horse farm. Although Frank didn’t follow in his father’s footsteps in terms of a vocation, like his father he did become a master of foxhounds, and continues fox hunting to this day. Bonsal did have a fascination for the world of business and how it works. After graduating from Princeton in 1955, and doing a stint in the Army, he went to work for a brokerage firm, Robert Garrett and Sons. While there, he focused on investing clients’ funds in small to medium sized public companies. As time progressed, he got to know the venture capital community who had invested in these companies. Frank later moved to Alex Brown where he helped take small companies public. As part of that business, he met Chuck Newhall, who was working at T. Rowe Price. The two of them, along with a third partner, Dick Kramlich, eventually decided to form their own venture firm, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), in 1978. He and his partners grew NEA to be the largest venture firm in the business. Bonsal stayed with the firm through 2003, after NEA raised it’s 10th fund. His only significant regret is that he felt the firm became too large. If he were to do it over again, he would push for keeping it to no more than six general partners. In his retirement, he continues to pursue personal interests and offers investment advice to Red Abbey Capital Partners, a local firm, as well as his son, who is an educator and involved in education-oriented investments. * Note: Transcripts represent what was said in the interview. Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation - Jeremy Bankson

03:49
This concertato could also be used as a festive anthem for SATB and optional treble choir, since congregational participation is not essential. The tune WESTMINSTER ABBEY is scored for two trumpets, timpani, and organ. There is a short introduction made of melodic material not in the hymn tune (which is also used in between the phrases of stanza two and for interludes between verses). Stanza one begins in unison and finishes in four parts. Stanza two is unison treble (which can be children's choir or just soprano and alto voices). The introduction is heard again with trumpet fanfares as an interlude before the third stanza. Stanza three gives the melody to the first trumpet while the choir creatively harmonizes around it. A final interlude leads into the fourth stanza for unison with descant and trumpet fanfares. Instrumental Parts include: Trumpets I and II in C and B-flat, Timpani https://www.morningstarmusic.com/catalog/product/view/sku/60-7040* Copyright 2018 MorningStar Music Publishers The Singers, Minnesota Choral Artists Matthew Culloton, Artistic Director Copper Street Brass David Trembley, Soundmaster Productions

Bertali - Ciaconna

06:59
ANTONIO BERTALI (1605-1669) Ciaconna for a treble instrument and basso continuo Performed by Catham Baroque *Live Recording **Antonio Bertali was an Italian composer and violinist of the Baroque era. He was born in Verona and received early music education there. Probably from 1624, he was employed as court musician in Vienna by Emperor Ferdinand II. In 1649 Bertali succeeded Giovanni Valentini as court Kapellmeister. He died in Vienna in 1669. Bertali's compositions are in the manner of other northern Italian composers of the time and include operas, oratorios, a large number of liturgical works, and chamber music. Particularly his operas are notable for establishing the tradition of Italian opera seria in Vienna. Approximately half of his output is now lost; copies survive made by Bertali's contemporary, Pavel Josef Vejvanovský, some of the pieces are currently in possession of Vienna's Hofbibliothek, the library of the Kremsmünster Abbey and the Kroměříž archive. The most important source for Bertali's work is, however, the Viennese Distinta Specificatione catalogue, which lists several composers of the Habsburg court and provides titles and scoring for more than 2000 compositions.

Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song (7'' Vinyl)

02:56
Turntable playback recording of the A-side from Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song/Hey, Hey, What Can I Do" 45 RPM 7'' Stereo vinyl record. Released in the United States in 1970 under the Atlantic label (Catalog# 45-2777). A bit of technical information: Vinyl record played on a Technics SL-1600mk2 turntable with a Audio Technica AT440MLa cartridge. The sound signal from the turntable was fed into a Sansui 9090DB amplituner's phono stage and then redirected to a Cakewalk UA-1G USB Audio Interface, connected to my laptop PC, on which it was recorded, cut, encoded to a 320kbps CBR MP3 file (with Audacity) and then later merged and sync'ed with the video (with VirtualDub). There was no sound filtering done. This is the raw audio feed. The video portion of the clip was recorded with a Casio EX-Z850 digital camera. Sound and video were recorded at the same time. Feel free to comment on this video.

Killary Clinton: An Audio Documentary By Ken Webster Jr

Over the past year or two we've spent a lot of time making fun of the Clintons on our radio show. From funny sound bytes, to parodies, to satire to street interviews, my catalog of Hillary Clinton related audio has grown substantially in recent days. And as we get closer and closer to 2016 it's becoming more and more obvious that there's definitely a strong chance Hillary will be running on the Democrat ticket. That's why I've decided to release this audio documentary in her honor. Killary Clinton, we're on to you.

London Festival of Model Railways 2018

42:08
Once again the Alexandra Palace exhibition lived up to the high expectations set by previous shows, with an excellent array of layouts, big, small and everything in between. All the major players in the industry were present, showing their latest models and offering an insight into their future products, although surprisingly one of the country’s most numerous trains is still not represented in model form, the Bombardier “Electrostar”. All aspects of the hobby were covered, new and second hand models, building a layout, scenery, electronics, digital control, scratch and kit building rolling stock. The standard of the layouts on show were of the highest order, offering modellers a massive array of ideas to include in their own projects. Josh Robert Thompson has a Night Cap

01:28:05
Josh Robert Thompson joined me for episode 5 of The Night Cap. Josh is known best for voicing and puppeteering of Geoff Peterson, the dead skeleton robot sidekick on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. However, I'm excited to speak with him because his other projects have shown him to be more than the sum of Geoff's skeleton parts. Josh is an accomplished comedian with viral hits featuring his impeccable celebrity impressions. His acting chops aren't anything to sneeze at -- he's starring in a new film called Nowhere Girl. His improv comedy is on display in the pilot for his sketch show WJRT-TV, and his thought provoking reflections can be found on his podcast Diving Myself Crazy. Fall 2013, during a very rough time in my life, I started listening to Josh's podcast. In one of the episodes, he complimented my blog, which -- thanks to his inspiration -- began to catalog my rise from the depths of a depression and narrate my recent empowerment as a creative person and artist. Gwyn Ashton - Sonic Blues Preachers teaser

01:01
Sonic Blues Preachers is a red-hot slab of funky, dirty, bluesy rock n roll laced with some Mississippi Delta-inspired 12-string acoustic slide material. Gwyn Ashton’s ninth studio album project features collaboration with one of Australia’s most musical drummers, the formidable John Freeman from the pre AC/DC Bon Scott-fronted band Fraternity. These two musicians are on top of their game as they go head-to-head into battle, the interplay between them second-to-none resulting in a cutting-edge album full of rockin’ melodic songs with a strong pop sensibility, co-penned with Ashton’s writing partner Garry Allen. The songs are full of hooks, big guitar riffs, killer bottleneck slide and fat dirty grooves, some cheeky, sinister and dark but all highly hypnotic and fresh. This collection of contagious retro-meets-modern should satisfy the most ardent blues and rock aficionado. TRACKLISTING 1 SHE’S WHAT I LIKE 3.57 2 CANDY STORE 3.50 3 FOOL IN YOUR LIFE 3.26 4 SOUL FOR SALE 3.49 5 THE OLD FOOL 3.14 6 TAKE YOURSELF AWAY 5.15 7 IF I DON’T FEEL IT 3.11 8 SHE’S LOST HER POWER 3.43 9 WAITING GAME 3.59 Recorded in Adelaide, Sonic Blues Preachers was then mixed by Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Studio, England through a vintage analogue recording console (the very one used on Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust album). The session was interrupted by Robert Plant taking Monaghan into Abbey Road for a few days of tracking on one of Plant’s projects. Once again, Ashton’s mastering engineer former Sony Records Los Angeles David Mitson, an essential part of the team, brought it all together. Amongst many other classic albums over a span of 30 years Mitson also re-mastered Sgt Pepper, Electric Ladyland and the Sony Blues catalogue, including the Robert Johnson box set. Ashton’s back catalogue features musicians from Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Phil Lynott’s Grand Slam, as well as Robert Plant’s and Rory Gallagher’s bands. Sonic Blues Preachers is the follow-up to his 2017 highly acclaimed release Solo Elektro.

PETER BOYER: Symphony No. 1 - Orchestral Works (London Philharmonic, Boyer) [Naxos 8.559769]

06:57
Peter Boyer is one of the most frequently performed American orchestral composers of his generation, widely admired not least for his GRAMMY®-nominated Ellis Island: The Dream of America (Naxos 8.559246). The composer writes, "The five works included on this recording represent a cross-section of my orchestral music. Three Olympians reflects my interest in mythology and history. Often I have received invitations to compose music for celebratory concerts, and three of the works included here—Silver Fanfare, Festivities and Celebration Overture—were created for such occasions." Symphony No 1 is a lyrical and rhythmically charged work, dedicated to the memory of Leonard Bernstein.
