Is South Florida Soundcloud Rap Really The New Punk Rock? | Genius News
Today, hip-hop is king of the block, and although the state of mainstream rap is quite healthy, something akin to punk has been happening on the internet. Taking full advantage of platforms like Soundcloud, a new generation of artists unofficially headquartered in South Florida has circumvented traditional gatekeepers and introduced a divisive new sound marked by raw, aggressive beats and confrontational lyrics. The 50 Greatest Glam Rock Songs (1971-1979)
Glam rock (also known as glitter rock) is a style of rock and pop music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s, which was performed by singers and musicians who wore outrageous clothes, makeup and hairstyles, particularly platform-soled boots and glitter. The flamboyant costumes and visual styles of glam performers were often camp or androgynous, and have been connected with new views of gender roles. Glam rock peaked during the mid-1970s with artists including T. Rex, David Bowie, Sweet, Roxy Music and Gary Glitter in the UK and New York Dolls, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and Jobriath in the US. It declined after 1976, but had a major influence on other genres including punk, glam metal, New Romantics and gothic rock and has sporadically revived since the 1990s. GUITAR STYLES: The Blues Rock Difference

This Video: July 11th, 2014 | Search Videos by Title/Date. THIS VIDEOS TAB's + LESSON PLAN: http://www.andrewwasson.com/recent_posts/2014/07_july.php#jul11 Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question... Q: I'm getting into a lot of the 70's Blues-Rock after learning the traditional Blues style. It seems the Blues-Rock approach adds extra chords & rhythms, making song formats different from the 12-bar Blues. I'm also seeing bands like "Cream" constantly tag on extra chords around the 12-bar Blues structure. Can you break down some of the differences between traditional Blues compared to Blues-Rock? Warren - San Mateo, CA. USA A: Blues Rock was primarily an English invention and guitar players like; Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Jeff Beck worked through the sounds coming out of Chicago, and the American South, to find their own sound that blended Blues with previously existing styles and traditions. Now, we find some of these changes occur in the Rhythms and other changes in the Chord Progressions and the Arrangements. So, in this video I'll be breaking down these areas and reviewing the essential differences between traditional Blues and, "Blues-Rock." THIS LESSON'S HANDOUT: http://www.andrewwasson.com/recent_posts/2011/08_august/aug_2011.php#aug23 Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question... Q: I've been playing guitar for two years and I like the older original rock 'n roll from the 1950's. Can you do a basic video lesson discussing the 1950's rock guitar style. Mainly on what the rhythm guitarist is thinking about to create the rhythm riffs and the scale that seems to be half major and half minor. I know that the basic scale approach is using pentatonic, but I'm confused on the full seven-tone scale that get's used by guy's like; Scotty Moore, James Burton and Chuck Berry. Thanks for reading my question. Paul -- Woodridge, Illinois A: The late 40's & early 1950's was a period where we saw the formation of a style drawn out of a fusion of country & western with swing, as well as, some R&B. It eventually became incredibly well-known as American Rock 'N Roll. In this video lesson we'll keep things pretty straight-forward for guitarists like Paul and some of the other Introductory level guitarists like him. We'll begin by taking a look at the typical rhythm progression that was used on many of the early recordings, as well as, the scale that is most widely used by the guitar players who dominated the early days of establishing this style. Rock Clinging Bonsai Style (Ishizuke)
Very early in Chinese history, mountains were thought to be inhabited by wise men and deities. Therefore, the mountains were worshipped and revered by them. Rocks are seen to represent mountains or parts thereof and have great symbolic meaning. Rocks and mountains are almost always featured in Oriental art, garden design, literature, and religion. Without rocks, any artistic representation is thought to be lacking the potency and magnificence which is associated with mountains. With time, as with most Oriental arts which originated in China, this love of mountains and rocks spread to Japan where it evolved in new and innovative ways. Ishizuke describes a natural scene formed by a combination of a tree and a rock, where the tree is clinging to the rock. The natural occurrence of a seed landing, germinating and growing, albeit with great difficulty, in an inhospitable environment and that is what this style tries to portray. This style also attempts to replicate the feeling and effect of some dramatic rock landscapes found in nature. This may be a mountain, ravine, cliff or a rocky island or shoreline. You may use any species, combination of species or number of trees for the rock clinging style. However, a single tree on a rock is always an enchanting sight. If you decide to do a group or multiple planting, follow the same rules as for a forest, raft sprout or double-trunk style. Bear in mind the logic of a natural scene, especially with regard to the environment and the growing conditions required by each species, when you do a planting with a combination of species. For example, when you use conifers and deciduous trees simultaneously, place the conifers on the upper part of the rock and the deciduous trees on the lower areas. Plant azaleas, ferns and grasses at the base of the rock.

History of Rock 3 - In the style of "Motherless children"
A blues standard first recorded by Blind Willie Johnson in 1927, it's one of the 500 songs that helped shape rock n'roll. It was covered by various artists, including Eric Clapton in his 1974's album 461 Ocean Boulevard. It's a country blues played with slide guitar. In this music style, played originally with acoustic steel guitar, the strings are tuned open D, so every stroke on open strings can produce a D accord. A History of Rock 'n' Roll Saxophone
Just a few of the many important saxophonists who helped to develop Rock 'n' Roll music. Danny Lipsitz and The Brass Tacks tackle the fascinating history of the saxophone's influence on rock 'n' roll music. From its beginnings in jazz and swing music, rock 'n' roll heavily featured the saxophone until the electric guitar took over as the premiere rock instrument thanks to artists like Chuck Berry and The Beatles. Through music and stories, The Brass Tacks - with their characteristic high energy and in-your-face performance style - will cover the most influential rock saxophone solos of this era including music by Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, and Fats Domino. Danny Lipsitz is a bandleader, saxophone/woodwinds player, and composer. Performing in a variety of genres, Lipsitz has appeared around the world with artists like Ronnie Spector, Mark Hudson (Aerosmith, Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne), Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge), Ginkgoa, The Avalon Jazz Band, The Hot Sardines, Lucky Chops Brass Band, The Losers Lounge, Chris Norton, and the Gordon Webster Swing Band. www.facebook.com/dannylipsitzmusic www.dannylipsitzmusic.com (Top 10 Saxophone Solos in Pop and Rock) (Epic sax guy 10 hours)

The musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Completely disinterested in academic work, Dewey decides to create his own curriculum, turning his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. The stage musical is produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has composed 14 new songs to create a score, which also features all the original songs from the movie. SCHOOL OF ROCK, with its sensational live kids’ rock band, is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music. NO ONE CAN STOP THE SCHOOL OF ROCK!

Pete Sound [Trippin' Balls w/ Brother JT] History of Psychedelic Rock
Ready to get Twisted with Brother JT? Brother JT and Pete Sound discuss the history of Psychedelic Rock. Psychedelic rock is a style of rock music that is inspired or influenced by psychedelic culture and attempts to replicate and enhance the mind-altering experiences of psychedelic drugs. It often uses new recording techniques and effects and draws on non-Western sources such as the ragas and drones of Indian music. It was pioneered by musicians including the Beatles, the Byrds, and the Yardbirds, emerging as a genre during the mid-1960s among folk rock and blues rock bands in the United Kingdom and United States, such as Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, the Doors and Pink Floyd. It reached a peak in between 1967 and 1969 with the Summer of Love and Woodstock Rock Festival, respectively, becoming an international musical movement and associated with a widespread counterculture, before beginning a decline as changing attitudes, the loss of some key individuals and a back-to-basics movement, led surviving performers to move into new musical areas. Psychedelic rock influenced the creation of psychedelic pop and psychedelic soul. It also bridged the transition from early blues- and folk music-based rock to progressive rock, glam rock, hard rock and as a result influenced the development of sub-genres such as heavy metal. Since the late 1970s it has been revived in various forms of neo-psychedelia. Prepare yourself for a Psychedelic Journey through Time and Space. Begin Trippin Balls. Follow us on Facebook http://Facebook.com/scrappletv http://facebook.com/TrippinBallsJT Follow us on Twitter http://twitter.com/ScrappleTV https://twitter.com/TrippinBalls_JT Stop by the Website for More News and Infotainment http://scrapple.tv/ Somewhere around 1990, JT morphed into Brother JT (dubbed as such by journalist Byron Coley), an alter-ego that allowed him to express his more experimental/psych side. Beginning with the monolithic feedback piece Descent (Twisted Village), JT explored both solo bedroom recordings (Rainy Day Fun (Drunken Fish), and full band excursions (Music For the Other Head (Siltbreeze), as Brother JT & Vibrolux) eventually working with producer Neil Hagerty on Way To Go, and Spirituals (Drag City). Along the way he would tour with Bardo Pond, Royal Trux, Bevis Frond, Blonde Redhead, and Smog. Of late he has taken to self releasing CD's accompanied by books of automatic writing/drawing. Chicago-based Thrill Jockey records plans to release The Svelteness of Boogietude in spring 2013.
