My Prayer DVD is narrated by Sheikh Bilal Dannoun, guiding viewers through the actions of making ablution (wudoo) and performing prayer in a simple and easy to understand style. This DVD as well as the Booklet will be available for FREE to organisations and individuals all across the globe. http://www.myprayer.org.au Prayer is a unique training and developmental program which, if well and devotedly performed, can achieve for a Muslim many valuable spiritual, physical, and ethical gains. Salah is the daily ritual prayer enjoined upon all Muslims as one of the five Pillars of Islam. It is performed five times a day by all Muslims. Salah is a precise worship, different from praying on the inspiration of the moment. Muslims pray or, perhaps more correctly, worship five times throughout the day: · Between first light and sunrise. · After the sun has passed the middle of the sky. · Between mid-afternoon and sunset. · Between sunset and the last light of the day. · Between darkness and midnight. Each prayer may take at least 5 minutes, but it may be lengthened as a person wishes. Muslims can pray in any clean environment, alone or together, in a mosque or at home, at work or on the road, indoors or out. Under special circumstances, such as illness, journey, or war, certain allowances in the prayers are given to make their offering easy. Having specific times each day to be close to God helps Muslims remain aware of the importance of their faith, and the role it plays in every part of life. Muslims start their day by cleaning themselves and then standing before their Lord in prayer. The prayers consist of recitations from the Quran in Arabic and a sequence of movements: standing, bowing, prostrating, and sitting. All recitations and movements express submission, humility, and homage to God. The various postures Muslims assume during their prayers capture the spirit of submission; the words remind them of their commitments to God. The prayer also reminds one of belief in the Day of Judgment and of the fact that one has to appear before his or her Creator and give an account of their entire life. This is how a Muslim starts their day. In the course of the day, Muslims dissociate themselves form their worldly engagements for a few moments and stand before God. This brings to mind once again the real purpose of life. These prayers serve as a constant reminder throughout the day to help keep believers mindful of God in the daily stress of work, family, and distractions of life. Prayer strengthens faith, dependence on God, and puts daily life within the perspective of life to come after death and the last judgment. As they prepare to pray, Muslims face Mecca, the holy city that houses the Kaaba (the ancient place of worship built by Abraham and his son Ishmael). At the end of the prayer, the shahada (testimony of faith) is recited, and the greeting of peace, "Peace be upon all of you and the mercy and blessings of God," is repeated twice. Though individual performance of salah is permissible, collective worship in the mosque has special merit and Muslims are encouraged to perform certain salah with others. With their faces turned in the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca, the worshipers align themselves in parallel rows behind the imam, or prayer leader, who directs them as they execute the physical postures coupled with Quran recitations. Although not religiously mandated, individual devotional prayers, especially during the night, are emphasized and are a common practice among pious Muslims. Prayer (Salah) In English

02:58
Salah (prayer) is reminding oneself of God, praising God, asking for mercy from God and thanking God. One only observes salah for him/herself. Not for God. Because God doesn't need anything (17:15, 29:6, 30:44, 39:41, 41:46, 45:15). The Quran doesn't just allow salah in native language, but supports it (4:43, 5:48, 7:205, 17:110, 24:41, 30:22, 41:44, 49:13, 73:8, 107:4-5). Salah must be observed in native language, not a foreign language. The Quran gives examples of those who pray in their own languages (2:37,127, 3:43,113, 11:87, 19:4, 21:90, 38:24, 66:11). Also contemplate on 2:45,225, 5:35,58, 6:38, 17:44, 22:40, 22:67, 36:69, 70:3, 73:4. Here you see an English version of two-rakah Sunni prayer. The at-tahiyyatu prayer is omitted because it calls out to the Prophet as if he were a god beside God. Prayer is only for God alone.

Islamic Call to Prayer Islam Calls You - without musical ending

04:24
Azan - The Call For Prayers In The Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Azan is the first call to prayer. The Azan is uttered in a loud, albeit sweet melodious, voice to announce to the faithful that it is time for the Obligatory Prayer and to invite them to offer the prayers. Those who perform Azan are known as 'Muezzin.' The honour of being the first Muezzin goes to Hazrat Bilal, a black slave who converted to Islam. He had a very sweet, resonant and musical voice. He was appointed as Muezzin by the Prophet of Islam. The appointment of a black slave as the first person to call Muslims for prayers, shows that in Islam all human beings are treated as equals. Rich or poor, black or white, short or tall - all are equal in the eyes of Allah. It is the piety of each individual that makes the difference. Azan is recited in a loud voice by the Muezzin facing the direction of the Ka'ba in the following words, which are said in the order mentioned: "Allahu Akbar" - recited FOUR times. Meaning, "Allah is Most Great."(four times) "Ash-hadu an la ilaha ill-Allah" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "I bear witness that there is none worthy of being worshipped except Allah."(twice) "Ash-hadu anna Muhammad-ar-Rasoolullah" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "I bear witness that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah."(recited twice) "Hayya 'alas-Salah" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "Come to prayer."(turning the face alone to the right and saying it twice) "Hayya 'alal-falah" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "Come to Success."(turning the face alone to the left and saying it twice) "Allahu Akbar" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "Allah is Most Great" (face back to front and saying it two times). Morning (Fajr) Prayers The following phrase is added after "Hayya 'alal-falah" in the Azan of the early morning prayers: "As-salatu khairum minannaum" - recited Two times. Meaning, "Prayer is better than sleep" (recited two times). ''La ilaha illallah'' There is no deity except for Allah. Women's prayer according to Qur'an and Sunnah

Click here for "Men's prayer according to Qur'an and Sunnah": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq5Nv2-ZKXA Click here to download the video and distribute freely: http://www.4shared.com/video/8nJBtuEW/Womens_prayer.html Click here to watch a video discussing the proofs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA3mDDbAtRo The demonstration was done by 6 year old Safiyya, who is the niece of Sheikh ul hadith Abu Nauman Abdur Raheem [who was also present during the filming of this video]. MASHALLAH, may Allah grant her success in this world and in the hereafter. Some people use the hadith of the Prophet [pbuh] "Pray as you have seen me pray" falsely to proove the prayer of men and women are the same. This is in actual a gross misinterpretation of the hadith because here the Prophet (Peace be upon him) was referring to men, If we do not accept this condition then Prophet (Peace be upon him) saying that "Pray as you have SEEN me praying" would become illogical because Prophet (Peace be upon him) was "SEEN" praying with turban, praying with his ankles exposed, leading men in prayer, Above all, regarding the hadith of "PRAY AS YOU HAVE SEEN ME PRAYING" none of the major commentators of Bukhari such as Imam Ibn Hajr al Asqalani (rah), Imam Badr ud-din Ayni (rah), Imam Ibn Bataal (rah) etc... have given this interpretation like Albani [ra] had given. Allah knows best. Click here for a detailed discussion of the proofs and the salah of women: http://www.central-mosque.com/fiqh/womdiff.htm Brought to you by the Hanafi fiqh channel. Full Muslim prayer (with English subtitles)

05:32
Muslim prayer with English subtitle translation. A Muslim is obliged to pray at least five times a day: once before sunrise; at noon; once in the afternoon; at sunset and once at night. During prayer he or she is to focus and meditate on God by reciting these words in order to reaffirm and strengthen the bond between creator and creation. This has the effect of guiding the soul to peace and truth. Such meditation is intended to help maintain a feeling of spiritual peace, in the face of whatever challenges work, social or family life may present. The five daily acts of peaceful prayer are to serve as a template and inspiration for conduct during the rest of the day, transforming it, ideally, into one single and sustained meditation: even sleep is to be regarded as but another phase of that sustained meditation. "Salat is the key to Paradise" - Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him)

How To Attend a Muslim Friday Prayer Service (Jum’ah)

03:25
Watch more How to Celebrate Ramadan videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/217206-How-To-Attend-a-Muslim-Friday-Prayer-Service-Jumah Step 1: Find a Friday prayer service Use Muslim acquaintances or a Website to find a Friday prayer service near you. Most are held around lunchtime. Tip Friday prayer services do not always happen in a mosque. University students often arrange Friday prayers in an empty hall or auditorium. Mosques in urban areas host prayers in satellite locations, such as downtown office buildings or even churches. Step 2: Purify your intention As with all acts in Islam, take a quiet moment to purify your intention, affirming that you plan to attend Friday prayers for God’s sake alone. Tip While Friday is usually a holiday in Muslim-majority countries, it’s a regular workday elsewhere, and some men are not able to attend as a result. Do your best to fit Friday prayers into your work schedule. Step 3: Take a shower or bath If you are able and you have time, take a shower or bath on Friday morning, as this practice was recommended by the Prophet Muhammad, who advised his followers to keep clean. Step 4: Dress in clean, modest clothes Dress in clean, modest clothes. For men, this means no shorts. For women, this means covering the arms and legs, avoiding tight or revealing clothing, and bringing along a headscarf. Tip Cologne is recommended for men, but perfume for women should be avoided. Step 5: Remove your shoes When entering the mosque or prayer area, remove your shoes. This is the moment of truth for your socks! Step 6: Enter prayer area with right foot first Enter the prayer area with your right foot first. If the mosque is segregated according to gender, women should enter the women’s area, and men should enter the men’s area. Tip If you have small children, you may prefer to leave them at home. If you need to, however, you can bring them. Children of all ages are a common sight at Friday prayers. If a child is very disruptive, or if a baby can’t stop crying, however, you may have to leave with them. Step 7: Offer voluntary prayer If you are Muslim, offer two cycles of voluntary prayer, known as tahyatul masjid salah, which means literally, 'the prayer to greet the mosque.' Tip If you are not Muslim, take a moment to sit quietly and offer your own prayers. Step 8: Sit next to other congregants on the floor Sit next to other congregants on the floor. Choose the available space closest to the front of the room. In other words, the front rows should be filled first, particularly because the back rows should be left open for latecomers. Step 9: Listen to adhan Listen as a fellow congregant gives the adhan, or call to prayer. This means the Friday prayer service has begun; refrain from talking at this point. Step 10: Sit quietly & listen to imam Sit quietly and listen while the imam, or prayer leader, offers a sermon, or khutbah. The first half the khutbah is the longest, followed by a brief period when the imam will sit down and offer silent prayers. Then he will stand again to deliver the shorter final section of the sermon. Tip A sermon will always open and close with words in Arabic. Hopefully, the language of the sermon itself will be one you understand. If not, be patient and ask someone near you for a translation when it is over. Step 11: Listen to iqaamah After the sermon, a man will stand to give the iqaamah, a shortened version of the call to prayer, which indicates the prayer itself is about to commence. Step 12: Line up shoulder to shoulder Stand up and move so you are standing shoulder to shoulder with the people on your left and right, forming a straight line that faces the qibla, or direction pointing to Mecca. Your shoulders, arms or feet can be lightly touching other people’s. Tip If you are not Muslim, ask someone where you can sit to observe the prayers. Generally, non-Muslims should not join in the prayer. Step 13: Perform salat Perform two cycles of the ritual prayer, or salat, following along with the imam. Step 14: Greet other people When the prayer is over, be sure to greet the people praying on either side of you when they are finished, either by shaking their hands and saying, 'May Allah accept your prayers,' or by simply smiling. Step 15: Make a charitable contribution If you wish, make a charitable contribution as you leave. Boxes for contributions are generally available near the exit. Did You Know? The Prophet Muhammad was known for giving short sermons, but don’t expect everyone to follow that lead—some sermons can last more than an hour.

Muslims pray 5 times a day to ensure a personal connection with and remembrance of Allah (swt) throughout the day. They pray facing the Holy Kaaba in the city of Makkah. Facing this Kaaba is simply for uniformity and homogeneity in the prayers of all Muslims around the world and not as an act of worship to the mosque itself.
